My memories of Gladys go back to membership of the Orchard Street Hall in Chelmsford and of courtship with John. I well remember her marriage to John and their first home in a caravan in I believe Billericay. They were a lovely couple and very happy. I regularly drove over to them in my old Austin 10 and took various items of furniture and wedding gifts as they didn’t have a car. Sometimes we all talked well into the evening.
We lost contact when I moved away, eventually ending up in Shipley in Yorkshire but somehow John found out where I was and we corresponded over the last few years. John was a very fortunate man to have married such a lovely lady.
